Google to make all non HTTPS websites insecure by July 2018

It started over three years ago when Googles search engines started to favour websites that used encrypted HTTPS connections.

Now, or should we say from July 2018, Google will mark any sites with an SSL Certificate as insecure. That is just the carrot because as from the roll-out of the new Chrome Browser planned for September 2018, if you do not have a certificate, then not only will your ranking go further down but an actual noticed will be displayed warning the user not to trust the website.

Given that chrome controls just short of 60% of the global browser market, this name and shame policy will get noticed and given that Google is the biggest search engine, it's only a matter of time before others follow suit.
